This application code covers three exemptions for lead (Pb) CAS# 7439-92-1 as an alloying element in aluminum alloys.  The maximum amount of Pb allowed in any aluminum alloy that uses Code 71 is 2%.  Your material contains more than 2% Pb.  You cannot use Code 71 for the Pb in this material.

Action Required:

Review your material composition to ensure it is correct and modify if it is not.

If your material composition is correct or if the modified composition still includes more than 2% Pb, contact your customer as a design change may be required.
